A little piece of Indian Heaven in the I.E. :)

I was very impressed!!! I've been meaning to come to Haandi for quite some time now, I just can't believe it took me this long to try it.

Food:

Garlic Naan: YOU CAN NEVER GO WRONG!!!!

Lamb Mango Curry: Not a huge fan of Sweet & Spicy ... especially if it's supposed to be "curry". It was pretty interesting. My friend thought that the lamb "must have been stressed out" YEAH, it was a bit chewy :/

Chicken Tikka Masala: it definitely is the BEST I've ever had!!! Amazing (if you're not big on spicy spicy [like me] ... order "medium plus" it's perfect :)

I liked that the dishes already came with rice. Most of the Indian Restaurants I've been to, I've had to order the rice separately. Free rice FTW :P

WHAT I ABSOLUTELY LOVED ABOUT THE PLACE? ... the waiter!!! Omg he was toooooo cute. I wanted to take him home and pet him lol! Sweetest & Nicest man ever *sigh* PLUS he was very helpful when I ordered the Tikka!!!

I have to come back to this place! There was just so much more to explore.

The lunch buffet doesn't look bad either, hmm?!?! I may become a regular lol

Listed in: A reason to visit the I.E.

Haandi, I love you. Years ago I was under the impression that I would hate Indian food and had no intention of trying it. My parents offered me haandi leftovers, and I cringed at the thought. I decided, fine I'll eat some of this weird bread stuff. To anyone who knows me now, I am OBSESSED with naan now. From the first bite of naan, to their extensive vegetarian options, I couldn't reccommrnd Haandi more. They cater the spiciness to your liking, and while the service can often be slow, they are the kindest people. My husband and I even had our wedding rehersal dinner here! My favorite? Garlic naan and veggie pakora. Heavenly!

I found this place with a Yelp app on my droid phone. OMG I'm so glad I did! The place has white table clothes and all that jazz. I'd go back for the food even if it was a dump! Crap I can't remember the name of the curry i ordered but it was recommended by the waiter. It was a yellowish curry with chunks of a light cheese. I had garic naan with it as well. My grub partner had Chicken Tandoori. Super good. We were served a huge plate of rice and couldn't finish all of the food. If you're not sure what to order ask the waiter. He sure came through for us. I'll be back next time I'm in the hood. This place is worth a try!

Went for Saturday champagne brunch and it was great. Usually a good restaurant has an ok buffet but this buffet was really good. I'm not an expert on Indian food but I lived the flavors, quality and tastes. Very good table service also

It's great to have good Indian food locally in the Rancho area. My wife and I make it there as much as we can for both the lunch buffet and dinner menu. The chicken tikka masala is a hit as well as the goat curry (best ordered spicy)

I enjoy Indian food very much, and Haandi's has to be one of my favorite sit down Indian places. Their food is much much better than the meals I've had in the "little India" district of LA. The place is nicely decorated, and their is usually an Indian equivalent of MTV going lightly in the background, which adds to the atmosphere. Their naan is very tasty, something I judge an Indian place by. If you screw up naan, I don't trust you with the rest of the food. I recommend getting on their mailing list, they often will send you a buy one get one free coupon, which makes this place an amazing deal. I try to make it to the restaurant at least once a month, even though it is a bit of a drive for me.

The only thing I will say that if this is your first time eating Indian food their menu can be a little overwhelming. Other that than I was glad to hear that there was some good indian food in Rancho. We don't have a lot to choose from.

It is amazing to me that someone could dislike this restaurant, providing they like Indian food in the first place!
Haandi has a fabulous menu, great drinks, and wonderful service.

I adore Indian food, but usually I feel kind of gross after a meal because many restaurants in this area make their food too greasy. Haandi's menu tastes fresh and is not oily, so naturally it is my favorite Indian restaurant.
You are offered a choice of mild, medium, American spicy or Indian spicy. They are jewels to advertise these options, because in other Indian restaurants I typically find myself begging for chili sauce!

My two friends and I ordered all of our food "Indian spicy." The mushroom appetizer was delicious, and was about the hottest Indian food I have ever been served! We joked that we better swallow every bite correctly or we could provoke an aspiration-induced coughing spell!

Our entrees were not quite as spicy, although we considered that maybe our taste buds had died. :) All joking aside, the food was amazing and flavorful as always, with generous portions to boot.

We chose Palak Paneer, Bhindi Masala, and Chicken Tikka: all highly recommended dishes.

The best part of the evening was our waiter, Jeo. What a witty, friendly person! He had us giggling and offered great suggestions. He checked on us frequently, but never made us feel rushed or crowded. Kudos, Jeo! :)

The other server, (manager?) and even the busboy were extremely courteous, and in my opinion, have always been as such.

This restaurant is cozy, and highly recommended. We paid about $64.00 for an appetizer, 3 entrees, a side of raita, chai, and 2 glasses of wine. Splendid.

I give this restaurant 5 stars because not only is the food fantastic, the service/hospitality is far above excellent. They make you feel welcome and are warm and friendly. The food is better than any other Indian restaurant I have been to, and I have been to every one possible in Orange County and San Bernardino Counties.
I dare, yes DARE anyone to find a saag dish better than Haandi's saag. Just like every other dish, it is exquisite. It is fresh, fragrant, and mouth-watering.
Even if you have tried other Indian restaurants and you think you don't like it, TRY Haandi. If you think you have had the best somewhere else, you don't know what you are missing until you

try Haandi.
Have you had the lunch buffet yet? This is one excellent way to try a little of everything, and the price is unbeatable.
My husband and I went there today for the lunch buffet and everything was delicious. And yes, you can go there when you are on a diet, because they have so many dishes that are very low in fat and still so tasty!

Seriously, this is the best Indian food I've ever had. I haven't been to India yet, which is why I only gave this place 4 stars.

My friend brought me here. I ordered the vegetarian platter. And, it truly WAS a platter. For $15.99, it included Palak Paneer (Spinach and Indian Cheese), Samosa, Lentils, Basmati Rice and a dessert. Now, the dessert I didn't really like, as I don't know what the heck it was, but everyting else was superb! Absolutely delicious.

The atmosphere was quiet and we were greeted by a smiley, friendly waiter.

My friend took me here since it was near her condo. I haven't had Indian food in a while and this place reminded me of how comforting it is to the appetite. The staff was warm and friendly especially the Indian server who humoured us when he asked the level of spiciness we wanted in our food. The atmosphere was very casual.

I love lamb so I thought I'd try Lamb Palak, a spicy curry cooked with pureed spinach. It was remarkably good. The meat was very tender and the whole dish was very tasty. The prices are very reasonable here. I would love to come back to this place if ever I am in the area again.

This place is great! The food is awesome, particularly the Chicken Tika Misala and the Cheese Nan. The service is always good. The only thing I don't like about this place is that they play weird Indian dance videos on a flat screen in the dining area and it's really distracting and kills the ambiance. Otherwise, the restaurant is very nice, small, and cozy and the staff are kind and caring.

"SAL-AM VALE-CUM"
I called Haandi for reservation of 8 people on 10th day of RAMADAN. I fixed my reservation and I asked if they are serving Halal Foods. Got good answer "YES" only upon request. He asked me if I am Muslim. I said Yes, he told me that if I request Haandi for Eftar meal they will provide us. I agreed and told him to go ahead.

We reached there 15mins earlier before Eftar. We were welcomed with SAL-AM. We sat down and I asked my Server about break of Fast. At once he came with Dates, Fruits, Drinks and Assorted Fritters. We were very much happy to see all around us. While we were about to break the fast, I saw my Server standing with chilled Mango Lassis and some Soda's. He didn't disturbed us. Which I really appreciated him.

We ordered our food, within 15mins our food was on table, it was really delicious and finger liking. We ordered Chicken Tikka Masala, Lamb Chops, Garlic Shrimps, Lamb Buryani, Spinach with Cheese, Plain Nans & garlic Nans. All food was cooked to the right temperature and the taste was perfect. My Family and friends enjoyed their Breakfast as if they were at home. Our Server made us very comfortable and his Food and Service was excellent far more better than the restaurants I visited.

When we finished our Meal we were send off my big Sal-am by saying MASALAMMMMMMMMA...

My best wishes to Haandi and his total staff for taking good care of us and making our Eftar a memory in Haandi's. I strongly recommend anyone to visit Haandi Indian Restaurant for tasty & mouth watering Food and Excellent Service.

I am no stranger to Indian food. Living for some years in SE Asia introduced me to the gamut of how different "curries" can be. My boyfriend however, had never tried Indian food and he has some foods he just wont eat. One might even call him picky :)

When the offer to dine with friends and the rave reviews from them, I was totally in for the Haandi experience. It took a little convincing but I promised the boyfriend I would find him something on the menu he would like. I ordered him the chicken biryani and I had the chicken tikka masala both were amazing. Haandi converted my boyfriend into an Indian food lover that night. Thank you!!!

We have been back at least 6 times over the past year. I have even brought my boss here to celebrate a special occasion and she was very impressed. Each time the food has been very tasty. The shrimp goan is amazing. The chicken korma and malai are great. The servings are hearty, the service has been better than most Indian restaurant's I have been to. I love their mango lassi and the raita is really good. The week day lunch buffet had a fantastic selection of Indian standards and is a great way to introduce/convert people to the different styles and tastes that can be found on almost all Indian restaurant menus.

What sets this place miles apart for me from other restaurants is that they are very willing to adjust the heat/spice intensity to your tastes. I am not a big fan of super spicy food, and Haandi has made every dish a pleasure to eat. Only once did I find it a little too hot for my tastes. I just took it home and the boyfriend devoured it!

I am looking forward to trying the weekend buffet brunch. Another couple whom I recommended Haandi to had wonderful things to say about the brunch.

Over the years, I've been to many Indian restaurants in Southern California and this has to be my favorite one. Their lunch buffet is reasonably priced and usually has good choices (great choices when compared to some other Indian buffets out there) that include tandoori chicken, samosas, and gulab jamun, among others.

I went there recently for dinner with a couple of friends of mine who had never been to an Indian restaurant before. We ordered the Chicken Tikka Masala (practically a given), Malai Kofta, and Shahi Paneer. The latter two were simply delicious and the chicken was good as always. The food was a bit better than it is during the buffet, but that's to be expected.

I'm usually pretty iffy about service at Indian restaurants, and Haandi has had its awkward moments with me, but this time, our guy was pretty good. He offered to replace anything my friends didn't end up liking with something else off the menu, and offered tid bits of information about the food.

Pretty much, I haven't found a perfect Indian restaurant yet, but so far Haandi has been the best.

We would actually give more stars if we could. My family and I have been going to Haandi for years and it has always been above and beyond any other Indian restaurant we have been to. The food is EXCELLENT. The service is EXCELLENT. It is very clean, and this is a factor that is very important to us in choosing a restaurant. We have introduced family members and friends who normally would not try Indian food or they previously believed they did not like Indian food to this restaurant and they have all loved it. We used to live close to Haandi but now live over 45 miles away but we still go there as much as possible. We go there for special occasions with out of town guests, for family celebrations, and also for my husband and I to get away for a wonderful meal out without the kids. The flavors, the uniqueness and the variety of dishes can not be beat. The atmosphere is very comfortable and also classy. One of our three favorite restaurants to visit for quality and pleasure.

I had dinner here last night on a first date. The food is delicious! I had the Chana Masala and he had the Chicken Tikka. We had Vegetable Samosas as appetizers and Aloo Kulcha. Everything was made fresh to order and came out quickly. We polished it down with a bottle of Pinot Noir and had no room for dessert. I can't wait to try the daily buffet so I can sample all of the yummy dishes. I will be back very soon! Great service and friendly family restaurant.

I have dinned at Haandi for dinner and had their lunch buffet as well. I did not expect to have a wonderful buffet, since my last mediocre buffet at Bombay; but at Haandi, it was surprising delicious! Every item was hot and fresh, not looking like it had been under the hot lamps for hours. Service was pleasant and I thoroughly enjoyed myself.

Four stars for the lunch menu and 3 1/2 stars for their dinner menu.

The food was flavorful. I eat a lot of Indian food and this place did not disappoint. I had the Tikka and Vindaloo. I ordered the Vindaloo too spicy and it was too hot for me. I did not like their spicy mint sauce though. I prefer the sweet mint sauce. Their naan was sooo soft and fresh. There's not a lot more I can say because I already talk about Indian food too much (haha!) so read another one of my reviews. I did like this place and I will return if I'm in the area.

Just came back from eating lunch here. I thought there was no Indian food in Rancho but there is! And it's great!

My dad and I had the lunch buffet and everything was really good. The Chicken Tikka Masala was good, as was the Tandoori Chicken (not at all dry like some other reviewers said). Their garlic Naan really is awesome - they perfectly cook it so it doesn't have all the burnt spots that you get at other restaurants. My absolute favorite was the Paneer Mushroom Masala - it was prefectly spiced, creamy and had a nice undertone of earthiness from the mushrooms. Seriously, so good. Too bad it's not a regular item on their buffet.

The service was really excellent - the waiters were very nice and attentive. My dad and I will definitely be coming here again!

I have only been to a handful of Indian food places Haandi being the second but neither of the others were as good as Haandi. My girlfriend and I go to this resturant EVERY weekend. If you go there on a sunday around 12:00 wave because it could be us! We always have the champaign brunch which includes the buffet and the food is great. A few dishes change but the staples are always there. I dont know the names of just about anything but I love it all. The service is great and they are always friendly.

I wish I could go on forever about how great this place is but I think if you go in you will love it too. I have been there for dinner but they dont have the buffet so I dont know what to order but what I did get was really good. If there is any downside to the buffet is you need to get there at a good time because they dont restock the buffet. They open at 11 on sunday so like I said we like to get there around 12 if its already 2 I wouldnt bother because you probably wont get your money's worth.

At the risk of piling on the compliments, I liked Haandi and I'm not a big fan of Indian food. The staff was very friendly and helpful and the food was amazing. Had the lamb curry with mango at dinner- delicious and so much. My companions all had something different and they all loved their respective dishes. We shared everything as the mian courses are served family style like Chinese restaurants do...Everyone seemed to walk out with a doggie bag, but I dont think Rover would do well with the highly spiced curries. Delicious "nan"
If you ask for your dish "authentic and hot " you'll certainly get your wish ! !. The lunch buffet was very good too, with a varietyof dishes, the same kind assistance and reasonable prices. Try it.

PS: People in charge DO read these reviews...The manager of Haandi left me a message to thank me for the review. Nice fellow.

3-15-10: I went back to Haandi again, this time for for the daily buffet lunch and it was superb ....again. It is one of those places that makes you wish you could just stay there all day and eat and eat and eat. each dish is better than the next.. And the desserts-- to die for, but to be reincarrnated for too, of course. One of those noisy, colorful frenetic Indian festivals in your mouth. It's hard to stop. AND- there was an added plus this time- a TV with Bollywood music videos..they're.like a traffic accident- really horrible, but you cant stop watching... and swaying like a cobra in time to the music .... it is

Like its cousin Bombay Bistro in Montclair, Haandi Indian Restaurant gets four stars for its good food and good service. I would come here if I were shooting for more of a "family style" dinner where everyone would share, because it seems the portions are more suited to that style of eating. This place also cooks up a really good lamb biryani that is really spicy but also really tasty. Be sure to order plenty of extra naan to deal with the intense flavors!

Its hard to find an Indian restraunt in this area. Your other choices are Bombay Bistro in Upland or Diamond Palace in Diamond Bar. That being said, its really nice to have this location in Rancho Cucamonga.
At lunch time there is a buffet for $8 that features all the favorites, including some Tiki Marsala, Tandori Chicken and Goat curry ( which tastes great) amoungst things.

I also went for dinner (a thursday night) and there was only one other group than mine, so it was nice and quiet and the service was very good.

Hooray! I've been reading your restaurant reviews for awhile and wondering when you'd finally try this place out.

My family has been going there twice a week for lunch for almost 3 years now. Even when we briefly moved to the San Fernando Valley we made occasional treks back to RC just to eat there. Even our 4 year old and 2 year old love their food. (No, we're not indian.) We're just that addicted.

Dinnertime is great because you can ask for the food extra spicy if you love that sort of thing, but the lunch buffet is quite flavorful but not hot at all, and to us a great deal to try a lot of different dishes. The dishes rotate thruout the week. Haandi was also recently featured in AAA magazine, not bad for a little local place next to a bowling alley! Oh, don't forget to try the murgh makhan (butter chicken), it's quite good.

I love Yelp. There are so many places I never knew existed that I'm now aware of thanks to this website & its reviewers! Today I found another gem, hidden in a business park on Haven Avenue in Rancho Cucamonga.

I was craving Indian food and turned to Yelp to find a good local Indian restaurant. Haandi's had the top review, and upon verifying that they did have a lunch buffet, my husband and I headed there.

Immediately upon entering Haani's Indian restaurant, the alluring scent of spices seeped up my nostrils and I couldn't wait to dig in! :) We were greeted at the entrance by a gentleman who escorted us to a booth, took our drink order and once he was done, I hesitated no longer before approaching the lunch buffet.

The buffet had a lot of various entrees and soups! Another thing I appreciated was that each dish was labeled, not only with the name of the dish but it also had an explanation in English, stating what type of vegetables etc was in the dish so that someone who had no knowledge of Indian food would get a good idea of what they were getting themselves into. Personally I am very familiar with Indian food now, but there was a time where I had no idea what anything was and I really appreciate the fact that Haandi's took time to label all their dishes so thoroughly.

Anyway, I dug in, trying a little bit of each dish and everything was really tasty. Their samosas were impressive!! They were huge and had a lot of stuffing... my past experience with these have been good, but no place I've eaten before have been so generous with the contents of the samosas. Every dish was really good. I was hesitant to try the goat curry because I'm not normally a fan of lamb or anything in the "BAAAH" family, however since people here seem to recommend the goat curry, I gave it a try and am glad I did. The sauce and the goat meat really went together very well, and I can safely say I consider myself to be a goat curry fan as well!! Who would've thought!

Other favorites included the chicken tikka masala (of course), the vegetable dish they had (carrots, potatoes etc in curry...very tasty) and the spinach dish (I can't remember what it's called....sorry.....).
Their garlic naan was also very good, it was fresh, thick and soft and we went through 2 baskets....lol

The service was excellent! The servers were very friendly, our diet Cokes were refilled immediately if they were low or empty and our bread basket was also refilled. At a lot of Indian lunch buffets I've experienced more often than not that the waiters "don't see" that you are out of coke or bread and they neglect to refill unless you grab them and ask for it, so I really appreciate it when refills happen without a customer having to "nag" for it...

All in all I'm giving 4 stars, excellent food and excellent service, I'm really happy we found Haandi's Indian Restaurant.
Can't wait to go back!

Haandi was actually my introduction to Indian food several years ago and since then I've experienced quite a few Indian places. Hands down Haandi holds it's own with the best of them. The Chicken vindaloo is amazing and they prepare it to your own spice level. I've tried mild all the way up to hot and they do great at each level. My only complaint at this point is the shrinking of their portions. When I first went here the portions were about twice the size they currently are. I somewhat understand as the economy is tough right now, but I'd urge the owners to increase the portions again as soon as possible. Truly a local treasure!

One of my favorite places to eat. Service is great and food is wonderful. Their chicken tika marsala is my favorite and the Gobi Pakora is really flavorful.

Really reasonably priced too.
